Thanksgiving

  • Singapore is a really important base for sending out missionaries across the world. 457 missionaries have left Singapore to work as missionaries in different countries and cultures – that is an amazing ratio of one missionary for every church!
  • Since 1970 the Church in Singapore has grown.

Request

  • Pray that we will learn to place God before materialism and we will not put our security in money but in God.
  • Pray for the churches that we will be creative and effective as we think of ways to reach to the youths in Singapore.
  • Malays (14% of the population) are considered Muslim by birth. Few of them get to hear the gospel because Christians are fearful and sensitive about upsetting their culture. Pray that we will have love, wisdom and be bold in reaching out to them.
  • Singapore is an established missionary base many go on short-term projects. Pray that our nation would be significant in reaching the Asian continent. We will be the light and salt in this continent.

Are you a student in RJC? If you are, we welcome you to join us for prayer meetings, worship sessions and discipleship groups!

What is SYATP all about?

See You at the Pole is a student-initiated, student organized, and student-led event. That means this is all about students meeting at their school flagpole to pray – for their school, friends, teachers, government and their nation. See You at the Pole is not a demonstration, political rally, not a stand for or against anything.

How did SYATP begin?

A small group of teenagers in Texas came together for a DiscipleNow weekend in early 1990. Compelled to pray, they went to school flagpoles and prayed for their friends, schools and leaders. Since then millions of students from all 50 states in America and more than 20 countries around the world, including Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, Guam, Turkey have taken part in SYATP.

Read reports of last year’s SYATP here.

How you can be involved

SYATP will take place in Singapore at your school’s flagpole on 8th August 2007 (National Day eve) morning before assembly. We will be praying for the nation, your school and your friends. Come join us and bring your other Christian friends along!

What’s next after SYATP?

Here are some suggestions:
1. Start your own weekly prayer meetings before assembly.
2. Join an existing weekly prayer meeting in your school.
3. Join a discipleship group with Student Venture.

See You at the Pole on 8th August 2007 (Wed)!
